The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States updated the PAG guidance document KDB388624 D02 twice in 2024. On July 1, 2024, the FCC released KDB388624 D02 Pre-Approval Guidance List v18r06, and on October 11, 2024, the FCC released KDB 388624 D02 Pre-Approval Guidance List v18r07. The main changes are the deletion of DRGAIN, MEDRAD, UMFLEX and UN5GHz, and the modification of UN6GHZ. WIFI6E indoor low-power devices are no longer under PAG.

What is PAG? I believe that manufacturers who have applied for FCC ID certification know it. If a product needs PAG, it means that the product cannot be certified after TCB review, and the case materials need to be submitted to the FCC official for review. The certificate can only be issued after the FCC official review is passed. If the product does not need PAG, it can be directly issued after TCB review. If the product needs PAG, not only the certification fee needs to be increased, but also the certification cycle needs to be extended. Therefore, manufacturers should pay attention to the latest regulations and PAG lists issued by the FCC in a timely manner to ensure that the products meet the corresponding requirements, and keep up with the latest development requirements during the certification process, so as to make product certification and listing plans in advance.

FCC updated KDB388624 D02 and made changes to UN6GHZ. Previously, all WIFI6E products required PAG, but now indoor low-power devices are no longer under PAG : 

U-NII dual clients (6CD), standard power access points (6SD), Fixed clients (6FC), Standard only client (6FX), and “Very Low Power” (VLP) devices authorized in U-NII Bands 5.925-7.125 GHz under the guidance of KDB Publication 987594 require a PAG. The following exceptions do not need a PAG:

♦ A C2PC for a certified module in U-NII bands 5.925-7.125 GHz addressing RF exposure conditions for a specific host(s).

♦ Low power indoor access points (6ID), Subordinates (6PP) and Indoor Only Client (6XD), as defined in KDB Publication 987594 D01.

07/01/2024: KDB 388624 D02 Pre-Approval Guidance List v18r06 replaces KDB 388624 D02 Pre-Approval Guidance List v18r05, with the following changes:

♦ PAG Item Updated HAC5GS, MODLIM, RDR255.

♦ Removed items DRGAIN, MEDRAD, UMFLEX, and UN5GHz (U-NII-4 band 5.850-5.895 GHz and channels that span U-NII-3 and U-NII-4 Bands).

♦ Replaced PWRDYN, PWRRED, and TXSENS with PWRCNG.

♦ UN6GHZ was modified such that indoor low-power devices were no longer under PAG.

♦ Made various editorial changes.

10/11/2024: KDB 388624 D02 Pre-Approval Guidance List v18r07 replaces KDB 388624 D02 Pre-Approval Guidance List v18r06, with the following changes:

♦ PAG Item AGGREG and the Appendix AGGREG checklist have been removed.

♦ Also added Erratum.
